Abstract: We present the results of a survey of the ant fauna at Na Skřivánku, a peat bog locality situated in the central part of the Vysočina Region, Czech Republic. A total of ten ant species belonging to the Myrmicinae and Formicinae subfamilies were found in the study area. Four of these species (Formica spp.) are protected under Czech legislation as endangered, and one of them, black bog ant – F. picea Nylander, 1848, is also included in the national Red List of Invertebrates as vulnerable. F. picea is undoubtedly the most important species of the study site. Its presence highlights the supra-regional significance of the site as a refuge for oligotopic habitat specialists associated with peat bogs.
